Configure Bridge ModeThese instructions explain how to reconfigure your modem in bridge mode. Most people do not want to put their modem in bridge mode. When you received your modem from Colosseum Online Inc., it was already configured in router mode for you which is fine for most people.Bridge mode means that the device behind the DSL modem has to do the PPPoE authentication (send the username and password).
This device will then receive the public IP.Some reasons you might want your modem configured in bridge mode are. You have your own router that you want to put behind the DSL modem, and you want the router to receive the public IP.
You have a static IP and you want to be able to access your computer behind the DSL modem from out on the Internet, without having to configure any port forwarding, DMZ, and/or firewall rules in the DSL modem. Other reasons specific to your situationBridge mode configuration only applies to 1-port modems. The steps to follow depend on what type of modem you have.
