Pioneer Media Receiver Pdp-r06g Manual

Hey all.I've recently acquired a Pioneer PDP-436PG without the media receiver or remote control. It only has two inputs being DVI and MDR. When powered there is nothing on the display and the standby and power LED's flash indicating the cable disconnection.I've read in a Pioneer training service manual that there are two ways to operate the TV without the media receiver. One being via it's DVI input while connected to a powered PC and the other via RS232 control.I've tried to connect using my PC but to no avail and have no experience with RS232. As I don't have the remote I can't even try powering it up.My questions are:Is it possible to connect my PC to the display using only the DVI port?Is there a way to turn on the display without the remote? Can it be controlled using RS232 considering it has no serial input? Are there any cheaper alternatives to the original if a media receiver is required?Your advice is greatly appreciated.
