ImageShack appears to be silently killing off their free accounts right now. There was apparently a deadline of Jan 31, 2016, but it looks like ImageShack is jumping the gun and starting early! It’s possible that ImageShack users can install to rescue all or some of their images. Everyone who can should act quickly to retrieve any images they may have posted online using ImageShack.I have only recently come into this information (I don’t have an ImageShack account) while researching something the email mentions: embedded ImageShack pictures from free accounts don’t work on forums anymore (they give 404 responses). Directly addressed images should either serve the image or give a 301 response based on ImageShack’s recent restructuring. It appears that in the last 36hr some ImageShack pictures have stopped giving their previous responses and started giving 403 responses.
These pictures appear to no longer be available outside of the user account at all. They may be available through SkyPath, but only the account holders can figure that out: I wouldn’t know.EDIT: Looks like people are also unable to get to their pics from w/in their accounts. Here is a link that could help. Angler wrote: Wow I wonder how many posts on BLF have photos that are hosted there.I hope the impact here is minimal. The impact should already be pretty visible. ImageShack has been actively changing the behavior of their image servers recently, but for the past couple of months they haven’t been serving images to forums at all.
That’s what the discussion starting with stems from. At the time, none of nottawhackjob’s images were showing up in thread, but if you pulled up the images individually in their own tabs they worked. Now the thread looks like it might be healthier, but I think that this is not true.

You’ll note that 2/4 images load. There seems to be little rhym or reason to it, but those missing two images are just gone from ImageShack’s servers. I can personally attest to the fact that those and other missing images were present a few days ago. I’m picking on that thread specifically because it’s the one I’ve personally been playing with, but there are plenty of other threads and I think that currently there are more missing images than present images. As far as switching to another free host ImageShack was quite popular in it’s time.

The idea that imgur can’t suffer the same fate is simply ill-considered. EDIT: with that said, of course you’ve got to put your pictures somewhere. I’m certainly not going to say that imgur is somehow worse than the other options right now. Just don’t consider any free hosting service permanent. The thing I like about self hosting is that all the photos stay at their same URL even if I change hosts every month.

It doesn’t matter where the photos actually are as long as the URLs resolve properly. No one can lose my photos, or suddenly change the price for my service, or suddenly go out of business. They all point to a TLD (top level domain) that I own.All those photos, a dozen of my own web sites, and a few of my client web sites all currently for $60 a year on EasyHost1, which is a decent budget host.

Unlimited domains and email as long as you stay within I think it’s 100 GB storage and 250 GB/month bandwidth per account. Oh, and about $10 a year for the TLD.Anything else, and you’re at the mercy of whatever image host. And if you change image hosts, yep, you have to go back and change every photo on every post on every forum assuming you find them all. Been there, done that.
It’s worth it to point to your own TLD for that reason alone. All my links last exactly as long as I want them to. Emarkd wrote: I can't comment on the ImageShack situation since I'm not one of their users, free or otherwise, but I thought I'd throw a recommendation in here for 'imgur'.

Its free, fast and easy to use. Plus its turned into a huge, very popular image sharing site so it shouldn't be in any danger of closing down, at least not anytime soon. So if you're an ImageShack user looking for somewhere to go, check out imgur.Seconded. They claim to never delete pics (unless you choose to do so), which has held true for me for 3 years. Easy to upload/organize/edit/etc. And it's free. I don't anticipate it going away anytime soon.Always make sure to maintain a frequently updated backup or two of your important images/files!
MountainKing wrote: I personally use my dropbox account to host my pictures. More control as to when I choose to ‘pull the plug’ or have a copy if the hosting service dies (copy is replicated on pc/online).A big plus getting link is just a right clickget link away.Example: My flashlight folder in my public folder. (contains other subfolders for other stuff)Never thought about using dropbox, I have an an account too.Can you give any tips?
Do the photos need to be in the Public folder.Thanks.
This is my first release, Project 64, Portable Edition!Basically, it's Project 64 in PAF format. This is the free Nintendo 64 Emulator made portable!I've tested it with a Hydro Thunder rom from one of my cartridges. It worked perfectly! If you have any questions, or if you can confirm if it writes registry entries, please just comment. Hey so this leads me to a questionDoes anyone know if installers write to the registry? Or does the writing occur when you run the installed program?I've been investigating doing pj64 for a time now, and problems arise in the fact you cannot natively extract the installer, it must be run using a /b argument to stick the cache elsewhere, the installer cancelled so it doesn't install, than you can access the.msi for pj64, however I think all of the dll plugins are compiled at install runtime because there are none in the installer, just lots of files named '023928.' Which a few contain text about plugins, others are random crap (text is probably SOME of the readmes, random junk is the plugins)or, is it possible to delete and copy registry entries whilst using a PA installer?or if the PA installer has some way to compile these random files? I know I'm probably reaching, its seems like its going to be very difficult to put together this installer.

I may attempt portabilizing another emulator first.editOne more problem, to even run the installer, you need to be an admin! WOOHOO.facepalm. Hi.Not 100% portable.1) The Rom directory link is not in the '.PortablePJ64', directory or sub-directory = please verify that you can made the 'Rom' directory 100% portable. On my computer, your portable software try to use the 'C:EmulateursRomStationGamesNintendo 64' directory, not '$AppPathRoms'.Then use $AppPathRoms2) The package contain files in the 'Save' directory = please dont include savegame files, in the portable apps package, but keep the 'Save' directory.PortablePJ64AppPj64SaveHYDRO THUNDER.pjHYDRO THUNDER.mpk3) I see that the emulator, is the v1.6 not the v1.7.
