If you don't mind my asking, which older drivers have you had success in running with Vista? I guess Vista can run those in some sort of compatibility mode or something. 
I've got the same D-Link card you do, but have never gotten any of the Vista drivers by D-link (or the ones at the top of this post) to install and connect without crashing my system.The last set of drivers I've been successful with are the 1.11 WinXP drivers posted on D-link's site.
